1. Pentucket has changed in their coaching staff. The new coaches are Blane
Goyuea and Pam Endyke.
2. Efforts to update personnel, e-mails, and phone numbers were made. If you
are not receiving e-mails from Charlie Duggan, send a note to cwduggan@rcn.com
.
3. Notes from the June 2003 meeting were looked at and explained.
4. There was a change in the events for October due to the financial instability
of some teams.
The new events will be: 1) Inst Inv – Pingree
2) What Element Am I – Bishop Fenwick
3) Astronomy – Swampscott
Postings of these and all events can be found at the Pingree website: www.pingree.org
. Go to Quick links, NSSL, and then the drop down menu to find what you need.
Michelle will put the date of the posting of the event on the event at the website.
There will be a seven-day Q & A period that is public information. After
the seven-day period, teams are on their own. We are currently looking into
an interactive chat room(s) to facilitate the discussions. Stay tuned…this
may happen by Sept 12, 2003 for the October events.
5. Joe Slater of Chelsea gave his last treasurers report of his career. Joe
is stepping down from the position and will be retiring from teaching at the
end of the year. We thank you for your years of service and wish you the best!
In his place, and from the same school no less, Miguel Hernando was nominated
and elected to the treasurer’s post. Send your P.O.s to Miguel at Chelsea
HS.
6. We are looking at the idea of not having an orienteering meet this year and
replacing it with a slightly extended April meet which will include additional
goodies to eat as well as the awarding of trophies (and the “best of”
plaques) to the students who earn them. The name plates for the trophies and
plaques would be mailed to the winning teams before the end of the year. We
will take a vote at the October meet concerning this issue. Expect to stay approximately
30-60 minutes longer at this meet.
