Orienteering Meet:            September 21, 2004 @ the Middlesex Fellsway Reservation

& Coaches Meeting                                    (Next to Medford HS)

Coaches Meeting:            May 9, 2005 @ Swampscott HS

Notes from the coaches Meeting:

1.                  All coaches like the use of the chat room to air questions and answers.  The website has been a nice addition to the league.  Mike Maloney form Somerville HS is to be applauded for his efforts!

2.                  The finances of the league are looking better.  Two years ago the league was in the red and having problems collecting back dues.  All schools are in good financial standing with the league and the league is showing a reserve of $700+.

3.                  Trophies were awarded to those teams that did not make the orienteering meet.  Trophies will be awarded at the April meet next year with name plates and plaques sent to the respective winners in the mail.

4.                  Were are looking into the possibility of recruiting other North Shore schools not currently participating in our league.  Invite friends to join if you know of any who would like to compete in our league.

5.                  Teams that have not submitted an event for the next year should look over the schedule and submit an event with a corresponding time slot.  We are trying to keep each meet balanced (physics, chem., bio, earth, etc) with emphasis on new events (preferably not tests) and non-traditional subject areas (oceanography, environmental, astronomy, geology, etc).  Teams who do not actively participate in the event selection process will be assigned and event.  The event calendar will be completed at the orienteering meet if not sooner.

6.                  Should we try to have several ninth grade (only) events during the year to encourage a minor league team within our team?
